Valentine Day Approved Food
Indulge without Breakouts
Valentine’s Day is days away! The excitement of having a magical day with your loved one is hard to control. By now, Valentine prepping has commenced! Nails, hair, makeup, so many things to do before the V-Day. The last thing you need is a breakout or dry skin from these winter months. Here are some Valentine’s Day noms that you can incorporate so you can indulge and have glowing skin!
First on the list is berries!
I’m talking strawberries, blackberries, blueberries. They are jam-packed with antioxidants. A recent study shows that these fruits specifically weighed in with the highest “total antioxidant capacity” of any food. Antioxidants are vital to skin health because they help protect skin cells by removing waste products in our cells known as free radicals that cling unto our collagen and reduce elasticity. Eating plenty of berries will keep your skin looking firm and youthful. So make sure to incorporate them into your Valentine’s Day prep whether in delicious smoothies in the mornings or with some dark chocolate for dessert with your valentine!
Next on the list is green tea!
Many consider this the holy grail of glowing skin because of its plethora of health benefits that specifically reinforce skin cells. Green tea contains anti-inflammatory properties that protect the cell membrane. Green tea also reduces the risk of damage from ultraviolet light (aka the Florida sun), and thus reduce the risk of skin cancer. It traditionally can be served hot, but we also recommend a green tea lemonade for the hot Florida months.
Last but certainly not least, red wine!
You read that right, red wine protects your skin from UV light and helps skin elasticity. Red wine can even reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by strengthening collagen in the skin. The health benefits come from red wine’s antioxidants that stem from the dark skin of the grapes that produce polyphenols, a type of antioxidant. These help protect cell membranes and have anti-inflammatory properties. So enjoy a glass or three this Valentine’s Day with your significant other!
