Skip that Winter Dryness
5 Ways to have Glowing Skin.
With that Florida winter and dry, cold air coming in, there are some ways to prepare the skin to look its best, even with mother nature working against us! Here at Puar Elevated Beauty
our mission is to educate and inspire because we believe everyone deserves glowing skin!
1. Seek a Specialist (It’s worth it!!)
A specialist, like a dermatologist or an esthetician, is essential to understanding what your skin needs! They will save time and money by being able to pinpoint exactly what your skin needs especially during this winter season and can correctly recommend what can be done. These specialists also know what to look for in skincare products. Take the time to research skincare providers near you and if you are in the Lake Mary vicinity our skincare experts at Puar Elevated Beauty
provide free skin analysis where we give you a full run-down from skin texture, sensitivity, and an action plan to help you on your journey to healthy skin!
2. Moisturize. Moisturize. Moisturize.
Choosing the right moisturizer will pack the skin will all the hydration it needs to survive the winter. The right moisturizer should be oil-based. This will create a layer on the skin that retains moisture keeping the skin hydrated amidst the cold, winter air. During winter, consider switching to a thicker formula because, with the cooler months, lighter formulas tend to not be enough. When choosing moisturizers, carefully select the oil-base because there are oils that do tend to clog the pores. Here are some skin oils that skincare experts swear by:
- avocado oil
- primrose oil
- almond oil
Sunscreen should be your best friend especially if you live in sunny Florida! Sunscreen should not be discarded after summer. The winter sun and snow glare can be just as damaging. Always apply sunscreen before going outside, and reapply throughout the day! We love skincare products that provide sun protection like a moisturizer with SPF. Another common concern with sunscreen is that it makes skin oily. This can be true due to the thickness of the sunscreen solution and also depending on your skin type. For oily skin, we recommend using sunscreen with a gel or water base!
4. Give Your Hands Some Love
Hands are often forgotten in skincare routines, but they need love too! Make sure your hands stay hydrated and looking young, they need to be constantly moisturized especially in the cold months. Without moisture, the skin will itch and crack. Make it a habit to moisturize the hands along with the rest of the face and neck. You will thank us later…
5. Stay Away from Hot Baths
This might seem counterintuitive because, during cold months, hot baths seem so alluring. However, hot baths are terrible for the skin! The hot water breaks down the lipid barriers of the skin and causes a loss of moisture. Skip the bath during winter and try a lukewarm bath with oatmeal or baking soda.
These tried and true tips can save you during the winter and make sure your skin stays glowing all year round!
