So how do you achieve Microneedling results without the trauma of needles? RF Microneedling is a revolutionary, noninvasive procedure which tightens your skin through collagen production. Before talking about Microneedling though, let’s explain more in-depth what RF energy is.

What is RF?
Radiofrequency (RF) waves release energy in the form of electromagnetic waves. In RF Microneedling treatments, we use these energy waves to heat the deep layer of your skin known as your dermis. This heat activates the production of collagen, which is what gives your skin its firmness. The amount of energy released is low, but just precise enough to penetrate into your dermis to spur the production of collagen.

What does RF Microneedling look like?
Your average radiofrequency (RF) microneedling treatment takes anywhere between 20 and 45 minutes according to how many areas are being treated. Prior to the procedure, a light numbing cream is applied to the treatment area. During the treatment, RF waves target your treatment area in the shape of a matrix and the healthy skin surrounding the stimulated area accelerates the healing process of the skin. Post treatment, new collagen and healthy skin cells are produced.

The best part? There’s very little downtime – you’re likely to experience a bit of redness for up to 24 hours afterwards, but there is none of the bleeding or trauma experienced by those going under traditional microneedling treatments. Just avoid the sun, moisturize, and wear sunscreen, and you’re good to go!

Why RF Microneedling?
Yes, RF Microneedling is sought for its less-invasive qualities, but its results is why patients come back time and time again. Not only does it provide anti-aging benefits, but RF Microneedling can reduce acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, the appearance of stretch marks, and sun damage all while balancing skin’s tone and texture.

Further, because RF Microneedling penetrates the dermis, this treatment is effective on nearly all skin types, regardless of gender or race. The main limitation of the treatment is that we cannot treat those with Rosacea or those with broken blood vessels or capillaries. Since it is a heat-based treatment, it has the potential to cause more inflammation. At The PUAR, we conduct a comprehensive (and free!) skin consultation to ensure you would be a good candidate for such a procedure.

But don’t just take our word for it: A 2011 study found that 3 months of RF treatment led to clinically significant improvements in a small group of people with mild to moderate signs of sun damage. Six individuals with varying skin types underwent 3 months of RF Microneedling treatment, having a total of 6 sessions in two week intervals. Immediately following treatment, subjects showed 35% to 40% improvement in skin tightening and 30% to 35% improvement in skin texture. Three months following treatment, subjects showed 70% to 75% improvements in skin tightening and 65% to 70% improvement in skin texture.

What’s important here is a commitment to treatments. Because of the stimulation of collagen, longer-lasting results are achieved through multiple treatments, spaced out consistently, and most results are fully realized a month or two post-treatment. As specialist dermatologist and founder and medical director of Eudelo Dr Stefanie Williams puts it, “All energy based bio-stimulative treatments naturally require a course of several sessions (from six to 12) and will induce benefits gradually over some months. Look at it like joining a skin gym – great results are rarely achieved in a single session.” (cite)

BEFORE AND AFTERS

Acne scarring
This patient sought Microneedling as a way to even out the skin’s texture while reducing the appearance of acne scarring. Through a combined treatment plan of RF Microneedling, Acne Clarifying Chemical Peels, and using a soothing facial cleanser, the above pictures shows her results after just one treatment as part of a multi-treatment plan. As you can see, not only was her redness reduced but her skin’s tone and texture is more even, and the appearance of acne scarring was visibly reduced.

Fine lines
This patient sought Microneedling as a way to plump skin’s appearance while reducing fine lines and wrinkles around his eyes. Through a combined treatment plan of RF Microneedling, Revolumizing cream, and SPF this patient underwent 2 treatments spaced out roughly 2 weeks apart. As you can see the outer eye area is much smoother and fuller, resulting in his crow’s feet practically disappearing.

fine lines and wrinkles, RF Microneedling
This patient sought Microneedling as a way to plump skin’s appearance while reducing fine lines and wrinkles around her mouth. This patient underwent 2 treatments spaced out roughly 2 weeks apart. As you can see the fine lines and wrinkles on both her upper and lower lips have greatly decreased, resulting in plumper, younger looking skin and lips with a fuller appearance.

Stretch Marks
When consulting those interested in Body Sculpting, we often see patients with stretch marks who are seeking targeted treatments to even their skin tone as well. RF Microneedling’s precision in targeting the dermis is highly effective in treating such concerns, though we do create targeted treatment plans using multiple products to achieve these results. As you can see above, this patient’s lower abdominal area had stretch marks treated through RF Microneedling, and after just three treatments (spaced out every two weeks) any sign of stretch marks are nearly imperceptible.

Final Notes:

It’s no secret that as you age, the quantity and strength of collagen fibers in your skin decreases. This can lead to sagging skin and wrinkles, but you can do something about it.

RF therapy uses low energy electromagnetic waves to heat your dermis, the deep layer of skin from which healing can begin. This targeted heat therapy activates the production of collagen to help improve such signs of aging as acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, and best of all, fine lines and wrinkles. Research has found that RF therapy is safe for the proper candidates and can be effective at treating mild or moderate signs of aging.
