Overview

What is Microblading & Permanent Makeup?

Microblading is a semi-permanent technique that uses a fine handheld tool to place pigment in thin, hair-like strokes that blend with your natural brows. Permanent makeup, also called cosmetic tattooing, adds lasting color to the brows, lash line or lips. Both typically last one to three years, with periodic touch-ups.

Your visit

What should I expect?

01

Consultation

We talk through the look you want, your features and your skin. Your brow shape is measured and drawn on first, and pigment is matched to your coloring before anything begins.

02

Treatment

A numbing cream is applied for comfort. Microblading takes about two hours. Permanent makeup sessions run one to three hours depending on the area.

03

Aftercare

Color looks darker for the first week, then softens as the skin heals. Keep the area dry, apply ointment as directed and avoid sun, heavy sweating and makeup on the area. A touch-up is typically scheduled about six to eight weeks later.

Results

When will I see results?

You will see the shape right away, though color is darker and crisper at first. Over the first one to two weeks it softens, and some strokes may fade as the skin heals. The touch-up visit refines shape and fills any areas that did not hold. Microblading and permanent makeup typically last one to three years, depending on your skin type, sun exposure and skincare. Individual results vary.

FAQ

Microblading & Permanent Makeup questions

A numbing cream is applied before and during the procedure, so most clients feel pressure or a light scratching sensation rather than pain. Comfort varies from person to person, and sensitivity can be higher around your menstrual cycle. Your artist checks in throughout and adds numbing as needed.

Microblading typically lasts one to three years. Oily skin, frequent sun exposure, and active skincare such as retinoids or exfoliating acids can cause pigment to fade sooner. A touch-up about six to eight weeks after your first session helps results settle, and many clients book a color refresh every year or so.

Microblading is a brow technique that creates fine, hair-like strokes with a handheld tool. Permanent makeup is a broader term for cosmetic tattooing, including brows, eyeliner and lip color. Your artist will recommend a technique based on your skin, your brows and the finish you want.

Avoid alcohol, caffeine and blood-thinning supplements such as fish oil for about 24 hours before, unless a doctor has prescribed them. Skip brow waxing, tinting and active skincare on the area for the time your artist advises. Let us know if you are pregnant, take blood thinners or have used isotretinoin recently.

Microblading may not be suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with certain skin conditions on the brow area, with uncontrolled diabetes, or after recent isotretinoin use. Very oily skin may hold strokes less crisply, and another technique may suit you better. Your artist will review your history at the consultation.
