FRACTIONAL CO2 LASER

CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing in Lake Mary

Resurfacing for skin that looks renewed

Fractional CO2 is one of the most effective treatments for lines, scarring and sun damage. It asks for some recovery time, and we plan for it with you.

Overview

What is CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing?

CO2 laser skin resurfacing uses a fractional carbon dioxide laser to remove thin columns of damaged skin while leaving surrounding tissue intact. As the skin heals, it replaces those areas with new cells and produces fresh collagen. The result is smoother texture, softer lines and wrinkles, fewer visible sun spots and improved acne scarring.

Your visit

What should I expect?

01

Consultation

Your provider evaluates your skin type, history and goals, and explains prep steps such as pausing certain products and stopping smoking. Some clients are prescribed a preventive antiviral.

02

Treatment

Numbing cream is applied, then the laser is guided over each area in controlled pulses. Depending on the areas treated, the visit takes about 30 minutes to 2 hours.

03

Aftercare

Expect redness, swelling and peeling for about 5 to 7 days. Pinkness can linger for several weeks. Keep skin moisturized, avoid direct sun and use SPF daily.

Results

When will I see results?

Once peeling finishes, usually within the first week, skin tends to look smoother and more even. That is only the start. Collagen continues to rebuild for months, so many clients see their best results three to six months after treatment, with softer lines, refined texture and less visible scarring. Results are long-lasting when skin is protected from the sun, though natural aging continues. Individual results vary.

FAQ

CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing questions

Most clients need about five to seven days before skin has finished peeling and makeup can be worn again. Redness and swelling are strongest in the first few days. Pinkness may linger for several weeks and fades gradually. Your provider will give you a detailed aftercare plan before treatment.

A numbing cream is applied beforehand, and most clients describe the sensation as heat and snapping. Afterward, skin can feel like a sunburn for a day or two. Discomfort varies with the depth of treatment, and your provider will discuss ways to keep you comfortable.

CO2 may not be suitable during pregnancy, with an active skin infection, after recent isotretinoin use, or with a history of poor wound healing. Deeper skin tones carry a higher risk of pigment change, so settings and candidacy need careful review. Your provider will assess this at your consultation.

Improvements in texture, lines and scarring are long-lasting because the treatment rebuilds collagen. Your skin will still age naturally, and sun exposure can bring back spots and damage. Daily SPF, a consistent skincare routine and occasional maintenance treatments help preserve results over time.

Many Lake Mary clients schedule CO2 resurfacing in fall or winter, when it is easier to limit sun exposure during healing. Treated skin is very sensitive to UV for several weeks. If you plan to travel or spend time outdoors, mention it at your consultation so timing can be planned around it.
